The Aurkhem
For a thousand years, Aurkhem stood unbroken.
Its walls were high, its ranks disciplined, its name spoken in neighboring lands the way men speak of winter. And now, with friction pressing along its borders, Aurkhem prepared the only way it knew how. More soldiers. More order. More certainty. The council called it strength.
They were wrong about what it was.
